I have that faceshield for mine too, and its a blessing when riding in the rain.  I just wished it would fold up in the saddle bag when not is use.   ;D
Rain is bad enough, mix in some hail and it really starts to hurt.  I wear a 3/4 helmet with flip-up shield when commuting to work because it's the best all-weather helmet I've found.

I've been eyeballing Vega's Summit 3 line of modular helmets for later this year when the weather cools and I go back to a full helmet.  Having comm would be nice.

I wear an HJC helmet. It has a face shield that hides up inside the helmet. When its down it goes to the nose. When it's up, it is totally hidden .

I used to think that too. I used comm when riding with full face helmets. Last year I converted it to my half helmet with the boom mic, and the boom mic did not do enough sound deadening to be able to tell bike/wind noise from me speaking. My setup uses ptt to talk bike to bike but the mics are voice activated to speak rider to passenger and are prioritized so that the rider/passenger conversation is the 2nd most important thing (radar detector being first which i do not use) do any wind noise effectively blocks the sound from the other inputs because it not smart enough to know that the passenger is not hooked up.  Also you spend so much more time messing with the units, making sure everything is on, one guy can't hear the other so there is allot of troubleshooting who's set up is not working right, I ve found that I prefer to not use them anymore.  Maybe a more expensive unit would work better but if I am gonna spend $700 on something for the bike its not going to be on something I use once or twice a year.  If I can make my gps talk through my speakers I would be golden.

As much as I would love comm on a half helmet, I forsaw very similar problems to what you mentioned.  The GPS that I use is integrated into my phone (I think it uses Google navigation, and it's constantly updated) and with my dockboss, it runs through the Ipod jack and I get it through the speakers.  I used it just this past weekend as a matter of fact.  Something to consider.

Thanks guys for all the responses, I'm still trying to figure out which to go with. I wish I could try these things on before I buy them. A friend of mine has the outlaw ultra low half helmet and want one of those, but everyone is sold out. Well the search continues.

I wear the Scorpian Exo 100 half helmet with a drop down shield. Love it is all I can say.
Do wear a helmet, I have lived through several motorcycle accidents wearing them.

Even though SC does't require a helmet, I like to ride with one. I have seen too many accidents with fatalities that could have been avoided if they were wearing a helmet. I spent 4 years working the traffic division and worked a fatality a few years back where a guy did nothing more than come to a stop and fall over on his bike. He hit his head on the curb and died almost instantly due to the blow to the head. The Dr. said if he would have had a helmet on even a half helmet this would not have happened.

Military requires me to wear one all the time, as does the state of NC, but if those items weren't a factor....if I was civilian and lived in a place like SC without a helmet law, I can't honestly say I'd wear one all the time (like puttering around the neighborhood or a quick trip to the store) but I'd still probably wear one for the greater majority of my riding.
