How to adjust rear shock
« on: July 23, 2017, 03:46:51 PM »
My understanding is that the rear shock can be adjusted to lower the rear a little bit. Can some explain to me how to do that.

If we're talking OEM shock, it's adjustable from 162mm to 171mm for a Roadliner.  For a Strat, the range is 162-165.  For a Deluxe, I couldn't say.

If you want to compress or loosen the preload on the shock's spring, you back off the locking ring and turn the other ring right for a firmer ride and left for a plusher ride.  The re-tighten the locking ring, of course.  If you're one of the lucky people, your bike came with a special tool to do this.  If not, Channellock pliers will work.

Well, tightening it should lower the bike very slightly.  Bumps in the road may become a bit more jarring, though.
