Dyna Beads?
« on: May 19, 2012, 10:12:27 AM »
I will be getting my new tires put on in the next week or so and was looking into the dyna beads instead of having the weights put on since I'll be putting on a 21" front wheel. I have never used them and was wanting some input on these before I do. Thanks.

I'm not sure I would want something floating around in my tires. Be nice to get rid of those ugly wheel weights though.

I've used beads on my last three bikes.
I like them and I like the way a rim looks without the weights.

Well I figure I'm going to have to do something because my front will be a 21" chrome wheel, and I am not going to have any weights touching the chrome. So I will try the Dyna beads and see what happens. Now I just have to find a shop that can mount the tire on my wheel without scratching the chrome. When I asked my dealer I got the "uhm yeah I think we can mount that tire on a wheel that big". That means not a chance to me. I'm going down to the Harley dealer and see how much they charge, I know they can do them.

Let us know how you make out.  I'd take them to the Hardley dealer too, considering what your dealer is saying, and they (Hardley) deal alot more with the chrome!
See what they say about the beads too.  Real curious how you like them once you have them in...

The wheel should be here Wednesday, and I got the Dynabeads last week so hopefully I'll have this thing on later this week. I'll keep you guys posted when I get everything buttoned up and get a ride in.

Cool... I want to know how you like them, maybe I'll go that route too!  Want to powder coat my rims and would like to avoid external whell weights!

I hope to have them installed today or tomorrow, and if the weather holds I'll get a ride in and let you know.

Ok I got about a 30 mile ride in today, and the front wheel seems to ride just fine with the dynabeads. Of course I did notice a little bit of (not sure how to put it) bounce or something, but this is probably due to the 21" wheel, and tire that I'm not used to just yet. I know this is common due to riding other bikes/baggers with 21" wheels. As far as any balance problems I feel none. So from now on it's dynabeads for me.

Give me another week and let me get some more miles in and I'll give a better review.

I just bought a trailer to haul dirt bikes and it has beads in the wheels. When you roll it around you can hear what sounds like marbles in the wheels. Are these the same way?

I could barly hear them when I listened close before I put it on the bike, but can't hear them now.
