i run avon cobras. but i heard dunlop american elite last longer - harder rubber in the middle softer on the sides. extra grip in the corners.

I have Michelin commander II's front and back on my Strat.  Got over 16000 Kms on them and still a decent amount of thread left.

I run Cobras front and rear. I don't expect great mileage out of them but if I get most of two seasons out of them I'll be happy. Great grip wet or dry, two up or just me and right at $300 delivered. I have a neighbor that can mount and dismount my tires and I put beads inside to balance the wheels. I highly recommend the beads.

Tires are tough...  It REALLY does depend on your personal preference and riding style.  My wife and I do about 30,000 kilometers each on our bikes, and find the Commander II best suits us.  We average one front and two rears each season for both the Strat D and the Raider....
Freedom True Duals, PCV, Purple Filter. Just trying to keep up with the wife on her Raider...

What size Michelin Commander II are you running on the front. I haven't been able to find a radial for the front in the same size as the OEM Bridgestone. Also - what did you end up getting on these tires?

Michelin does not make the Commander II radial front tire in our size.  The folks above are running bias on the front.

Forgive my lack of knowledge on this one but what is the performance difference between bias and radial on the front? Is it better to run the Commander bias on front or Bridgestone OEM radial when paired with the Commander on the back?

Hey!  I left out a rather critical word in my earlier statement.  I should have read:
"Michelin does not make the Commander II radial front tire in our size."
