Hello, I am new to this forum and forums in general. I will get right to the meat of my issue. My 07 Strat is in the shop to have the t-case repaired to the tune of $1500. I read on this site, which is what prompted me to join, about front pulleys coming lose on Strats and causing all sorts of issues. Basically, that is what happened to me. My Strat was making the noise discussed previously here when decelerating. I checked, sure enough, the pulley was loose. I tightened it, then it made another sound when decelerating. I took it to my local shop, they re tightened the pulley, but couldn't figure out what the sound was. It went away for a bit, couple months, then started again, but way worse. I took it to another shop, they stated my t-case was toast. I'm sorry I don't have the specifics as to exactly what they said, I was contacted 10 minutes prior to my shift at work starting today and given the news. My question is, does Yamaha assist with this in any way since it's such a common, yet never recalled issue, or am I burnt? I understand it's a 10 year old bike with 56000 miles, but it has been meticulously maintained and NEVER given me an issue in the past. Any info or help would be appreciated. I asked the dealer working on my if they would be willing to contact Yamaha on my behalf, but have not heard back yet.

You know, it really is a bummer, but kind responses and true understanding really easy the pain. Thank you Beattofit! Our Strat is a family member and she'll be back on the road one way or another!

I will try there, thank you. I have received a call from the dealer I took the bike to and they were very helpful in regards to contacting Yamaha directly for assistance. So, fingers crossed.

That's very lucky for you! I had the same thing happen (luckily at the bottom of my driveway!).  ~$850CAD in parts and did the job in my shed.  It is doable if you're somewhat decent with a wrench (I'm a computer tech, and I did it  ).

I really think this is something that a recall should be done on.  If that front pulley gets stuck because it came off, that means your rear wheel is locked..
