Has anyone opened up the stock exhaust mufflers here ??  I watched a short Utube video of a bike that had that mod done, and it is exactly the sound I am after, I'm just curious as to what all is involved. Any pointers ??  I've done some on other bikes with just using a carefully held hole-saw. Doesn't look like I can get away with that on this one.....   thanks.

I dunno about cutting or drilling on the OEM muffler.  I don't think I'd recommend it.

I do know that a D&D slip-on is inexpensive, looks and sounds good, and yields a mild performance improvement with no further mods required.  Hell, they even hold their value.  I bought my mine used for $250 and sold it for $200.

Better still, if the forums are to be believed, would be a RoadHouse slip-on.  But they're out of business.  So, maybe hawk around for a used one of those.

Rush also makes a slip-on; opinions seem to vary on them. I've never seen/heard one.

Ditto Greenpus above.  I ran the D&D with airbox top removed, then put the top back on for a while, then wound up riding with it removed.  But I never had a fuel tuner, and that was before I had Ivan's reflash.

I recommend a D&D.

I just put my D&D slip-on on last week with no tuning. It sounds great and the bike runs just fine as well, actually just a little better.

Got the D and D slip on today - Wayne at D and D extremely helpful and prompt service. Took about 30 minutes to remove the stock muffler, unpack the flawless D and D and install. I am so glad I did this one! Now - perhaps Santa will help me with the Ivan's upgrade?
