OMG I love this bike.
« on: June 08, 2017, 02:44:25 PM »
This is my second Stratoliner. The first one lasted about a month and I returned it to the dealer. It had a check engine light that would not go out and a couple of repeating codes that could not be fixed or cleared. But I was hooked on the Stratoliner.
I found my current ride seven hours away and I am sure I paid too much but IT IS MINE. I tried to attach some images but it looks like I only got two of them to stick. It is a 2006 Raven or Midnight and I bought it completely stock with 20,000 miles. He said it had lots of maintenance but I think perhaps he exaggerates. I have bought new Avon tires but not installed yet. When I get this scooter all dialed in for me, I will probably go to the darkside. I have changed the oil, filter and transfer case oil. I have taken the Reckless fairing apart and re-soldered all the connections, removed the windshield glove box thing and resealed everything. The leather three pocket glove box thing had two worthless, small pockets and overall it took away too much of my vision directly in front of the bike.
I have some JTD lower cowl fairings to install hopefully this week. I can't wait to get them installed. I get buffeted pretty good with just the batwing. I wear glasses and a half helmet while I  mostly commute through town so I don't wear goggles or a full face helmet. I am hoping the JTD lower cowl fairings will keep the buffeting down so I can continue to just get on and go with my normal glasses. The last Stratoliner had Bucks lowers and a batwing and it did not buffet near as bad as this one SO I am hopeful.
I also had Ivan re-flash my ECU. I should have it back tomorrow with a PCFC plus his air filter and mounts. So my plan is to install everything I can with it on the lift table, then it comes down for tires and the PCS lowering links.
I am in my 50's and I work in Law Enforcement. I have had several motorcycles over the last 30 years but this is a very nice, strong and comfortable bike. I am afraid I am very slow when it comes to working on this one. I do a lot of research before touching it. This is quite likely my last bike and I want it to last for the next ten years.
I am writing just to generate interest and maybe some conversation. I love this bike and I am constantly scrolling this site, LinerWiki and the Delphi Forums. I do not know how to navigate the Delphi Forums but I still like to read about my beautiful Stratoliner.
Stay safe,
beattofit

Welcome, glad you are enjoying your bike. Not completely stock, those bag guards are nice (and not cheap). Would like to get a set of those myself. When I first took off on my stratoliner after buying it I was actually disappointed in the buffeting but after some lowers no problems. Get your lowers on and the buffeting will disappear. I have Memphis shades lowers.
