New Star Venture dyno numbers makes u wonder...
« on: August 12, 2017, 09:54:18 AM »
if the motor has been completely redone in comparison to the roadliner stratoliner motors what was the point? The dyno numbers show very little difference, hp a little down, tourqe a little up but nothing dramatic. 6th gear sure we should have had that to but thats more like a gearbox thing. Heres the dyno sheet....

Transmission gears are inside the engine. The case behind the motor is a transfer case and swaps drive from right to left side.

I wonder how many parts are interchangeable.  Same for the frame and suspension/steering components.

There's a lot more to an engine than just numbers on a dyno chart.

Engines in touring bikes need to be smooth and quiet so this engine has internal changes to help make that happen.  Touring bikes are more likely to be heavy with electrical and electronics and this engine has dual alternators to provide juice.   As others have said, the transmission is a part of the same housing so the change to a 6 speed would require changes to the surrounding components as well.

The actual pistons, crankshaft and jugs may be the same parts as a 'Liner but there's more to an engine these days.

If you make all the mods that are on Ivans website you should get about 100 hp and 126 ft lbs torque. I made the mods and my scooter is a beast. That being said - mileage can go as low as 31 mpg. Average for me is about 35. Have gotten 42 riding back roads at around 60mph.
