Mirrors
« on: June 24, 2012, 11:54:20 PM »
I've been thinking about changing my mirrors on the liner, but not sure of what to go with. I like the tear drop style mirrors, but I want some that I can still see behind me with. I'm afraid I'll get some and then not be able t see good with them. Anyone got any advice or experience with these style mirrors or any other mirrors other than stock.

Well, I don't think I've seen anything on the aftermarket that offers as much coverage as the stock mirrors so anything you choose is going to be a reduction in rearward visibility.

Having said that, I like my aftermarket mirrors and the coverage with them is good enough, especially after adding some 1" blind-spot mirrors.  I have the Kuryakn Trident mirrors and like the look of them.  The one problem with them is that the stem extends past the handlebar mount.  This reduces the mounting options since they can interfere with the reservoirs.

Yes I agree our mirrors are kinda blah looking, but they function great with great rear visibility which is more important to me and why I have chosen not to mess with them.

I decided to powder coat my  touring bar black and then black out everything on them, so I went with these:

I can now see past my own shoulders.

Bike Master has a lot of other choices too.

Those look good.

These are the ones I was looking at Arlen Ness tear drop mirrors, just don't know if I want to spend the cash to have rearward visability cut down.

I think Swo has mirrors similar to that, maybe he can chime in about rear visibility?

If those are the small ones I get enough visibility but its a preference. I also have the touring bars so that may bring them up a bit. I dont regret the purchase.. Swo's are much bigger and for larger mirrors, they would be the ones Id go with. IMO

I've had these mirrors on my past two bikes and love them.
They are JUST big enought IMO and I think they are killer looking.
Here are a few pictures.

Had these on my warrior at one point, might as well not have any mirrors...I went from them to Aeromach Large Oval Mirrors on Slayer Arms....pricey, but they look good and provide function too.

Thanks for the pictures Swo, those do look really good. I might just hang on to the stock ones for now, I really need to put my money towards a new exhaust and finish getting my stereo upgraded.
