Help Head buffing so bad i can't see
« on: November 02, 2011, 08:58:50 PM »
Ok so i mounted my new fairing from Reckless which will look great once I get it painted. I went for a ride up the road with 5" shield and my head was getting thrown around like crazy fast and couldn't hardly see. So i returned home and installed the 8" shield went up the road same thing not any better... What do I do now???????

I think lowers would help considerably. For my Deluxe fairing, I had to use a 11" shield to make things happy for me.

You  need a taller windshield. I already went through this. I put the Yamaha tall windshield on end of problem. I have the Yamaha hard lowers, when i run the short shield i get beat up. When i run no hard lowers and the short shield i get beat up.

If you are getting beat up by wind on the Stratoliner Deluxe, put a taller windshield on and you will solve all your problems with wind and buffeting....period

I use a Scoprion Exo 100 helmet with a drop down shield.  Now I can see at least cause it takes away any need for glasses. But I still get buffeted.   I had a 12" windshield but it just didnt look sporty.

Yup. I had the same issue but installed the Clearview 10" shield with the flip on the edge and I get no buffeting. I still get wind in my face, it's not calm. I have heard others say that they could light a smoke while riding.  I can't do that, still get a breeze but zero buffeting which is exactly what I wanted.

yeah, you will still get wind with a taller shield, but not the rythmic pounding that shakes your head and makes your glasses bounce on your face. Could you smoke ?  Maybe...Anything smoother and with less wind would have 4 wheels and windows that go up and down.

For me I rather not have a fairing than get my head thrown around like that.  I truly hate it to the point i rather cut my loses and leave it off. Unless i can find a easy way to fix it

Nice Helmet FL...  ;)

Hey 2STARS, sorry to hear you are getting beat up, I wonder if it's the fairing, because my Yami-Deluxe fairing threw me around some too (I'm 5'9") but I went to my Clearview 6" shield with the curved upper lip, not too tall, but I'm here to tell you, it made a  H U G E  difference !

I don't know if it is your new fairing, or your size, but maybe see if you can hook up with someone nearby that has one of our Deluxe shields and see how their bike feels on you...

Good luck to ya brother...
