Hard leather "Side Bag Guards" for protection
« on: September 25, 2017, 12:01:47 PM »
Does anyone have the (2C5-F84D0-V0-00) Side Bag Guards and do they offer any protection for saddlebags?  I'm not crazy about the trim rails (2C5F84F0V000) that wrap around but I like the guards OK.

I got a set from eBay (not the OEM, but build to same specs) for a much better price than OEM. I cannot speak to whether they offer tip over protection (hoping never have to test them)....but I like that it keeps passengers heels from always kicking the bags.

laid my bike down  10 days ago-  "Side Bag Guards"provided  0 saddlebag protection- still damaged the bags... AND the
"Side Bag Guards"  got bashed into the swingarm.
the guy at the shop said now it will probably  be a total loss with the damaged swingarm being one of the more expensive parts. wish i had removed them.

Since I always ride solo and protection seems nill, looks like they're much just for looks.  Thanks for the helpful replies.

that makes me hesitate as I thought these guards will do the job and wont let to crush the bags in case of laid the bike...
now it sounds like it does not protect and even can be harmfull for swingarm :/
is it just the exceptional badluck of CptnNubs? has anyone else experienced how it works when You fall?
Keep calm and ride whatever You ride
