2012 Stratoliner Deluxe, buying and GPS questions
« on: June 08, 2017, 08:32:00 PM »
I found a 2012 Stratoliner Deluxe with 17,000.00 and the dealer accepted my offer of $9,100.00 cash.  Is this a fair price? do you think I can find something similar for a lower price? The bike is clean and ready to ride.
The dealer says this bike does not come with a GPS.  Is this possible?  I don't know much about this bike, but I thought all the deluxe models come with GPS.  This bike has the power commander and pipes.  This is the VIN # JYAVP22E8CA010503.  Thanks for your help.  I am driving now a 2015 V Star 1300.

Not sure where you are, but on Craiglist here in Indy.. theres a 14 Deluxe with about 2k miles and a few small upgrades.. for 10k.  It's been there about a month I think.  Local dealer has a new '14 on their website for 13,2.  I thought the 12's came with the GPS.  If it's not there he's either put it on another bike, or when they had it as a trade, the person removed the GPS.

Again, it could depend on area, etc.. but that price seems high for that amount of mileage, no GPS, etc.. if you're anywhere near Indy.. I'd bet you might be able to work a cash deal on that one on Craigslist that would be real close to what you're paying that dealer for a bike with a lot more miles.

Edit:. Fixed mileage on the used one.. I thought it had 4k.

I totaled by 2012 Strat Deluxe last year.  Yes, it came with a Garmin 665, but at that time you had to buy the lifetime maps.  Now, it comes with it and is called a 665LM.  It was the first thing I pulled off my Strat Dlx.  It also has a flip-down quick mount for the 665 and antenna within the fairing.  Also pulled off.

Also it came with an Apple IPOD for music which mounts to an adapter within the glove compartment.

 ???Something ain't right. >:(

Well, if it had the factory GPS, and it's truly in excellent condition, it would BlueBook at $9,955 retail in my zip code, 71270.

Where'd the GPS go?  Would you indeed say this bike's condition is excellent?  How much do you want the bike?  How willing are you to wait, or shop around?  If you're really "into" getting the best deal, I'd reckon that a '12 for $9,100 is not an awesome deal.

But then again, "deals" are relative, local, time-dependent, and personal.  If nine grand gets you a 'Liner that you like NOW, then hell yeah.

Best wishes.

Prices are all over the place on the Strats.  I stopped at my local Indian Dealers open house yesterday. Just for sh..s and giggles I asked what my 2014 would be worth on trade. He didn't even walk out to my bike and offered $8000 + the Indian $1500 trade in rebate against a 2017 Chieftain Limited.  Let me think about it ...... HELL NO!!!!! LOL

Yeah... That's actually pretty decent for a trade offer.  You almost always get destroyed on trade in value.. Bikes seem to get it even worse than cars, in my limited experience.

Don't know if this tells you anything, but I just bought a brand new 2014 Strat Deluxe for $11.5k.  Left over inventory from a dealer that went bankrupt and was finally released for sale.  I literally was the first person to ever ride it; 0 miles on the odometer and they had to 'make it hot' for me when I arrived at the dealer.
