Last word on MY darkside experience.
« on: January 14, 2018, 03:17:46 pm »
Just wanted to take a minute and give my final review on the darkside tire I bought for the strat.
1. I wouldn't do it with stock shock. Even after I added the progressive 850-1200 spring, I found the shock was either not good enough or just plain worn out at 45000 miles to handle the square tire. Once I put in the progressive shock with RAP it never had a problem again. I also put on the LA Choppers lowering kit and raised the bike a half inch.
2. Get the smallest tire available. The last tire I bought was the 205/50-17.
3. It takes about 5 minutes to get used to riding. The only time I ever noticed it was starting turns from a stop. Then the grooves would catch as they transitioned to the edge. Other than that, I ride very aggressively and never had a problem other than the comments "man, is that a car tire?"
4. I honestly cant remember the tire I put on, but when the bike sold it had 10000 miles and even though I forgot to measure it, i'd say it still had half the tread left.

Not sure I'm going to do the indian but we'll see after my first long tour.
